The MSJC baseball kept up their winning ways on Tuesday, and moved one step closer to securing a play-off spot, beating visiting Cerro Coso 12-2.
Third baseman Johnny Armenta had a huge offensive day for the Eagles going 5 for 5 with five RBIs. Armenta had a triple, a double, and three singles in the victory. Markalexander Gamo added three hits for MSJC and Manny Mendoza drove in 3 runs. The Eagles came out of the gates quickly scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first and 2 in the bottom of the second to take a commanding lead.
Starting pitcher Augie Gallardo gave up two runs in the top of the third, but that was it as he settled in to pick up his 7th win of the season. Gallardo finished the day going 8 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. Dylan Fisher pitched a scoreless 9th for the Eagles.
The win improved MSJC to 22-12 on the season and 15-7 in Foothill Conference games while Cerro Coso fell to 7-26 and 6-16. The Eagles are one game ahead of Rio Hondo for second place in the conference with two game left to play in the regular season. MSJC travels to Ridgecrest on Thursday to play the second game of the series with Coso and return home on Friday for their regular season finale.
Augie Gallardo pitched 8 innings on Tuesday to pick up his 7th win of the season as he helped the MSJC baseball team to a 12-2 win over visiting Cerro Coso College. The Eagles will play at Coso Thursday, before their final regular season game of the season back here on Friday. MSJC is 22-12 on the season and making a late season play-off push.
