The MSJC baseball team will open their season on Friday January 25th when they take on Southwestern College at 2 pm at the University of California Riverside. The game was originally scheduled as a home game, but the Eagles are still completing renovations to their stadium. The UCR stadium is located on campus at University and Blaine in Riverside.
The Eagles are coming off a 18-24 season a year ago and are looking forward to kicking off the 2008 season. Returning all conference player Bryant Viega returns along with fellow sophomores; Josh Ray, Josh Barry, Jimmy Torres, and John Skala. This core will lead the Eagles offense this season, as they face a tough non conference schedule preparing for Foothill Conference play in late February.
The much improved pitching staff will be led by Brian Lewis and Dale De Schepper. Lewis is a transfer from Chaffey College where as a freshman he helped guide the Panthers to the conference title and a spot in the play-offs.
The Eagles have four other non conference home dates on this year's schedule including games with; Pasadena on February 5th, a double header with Imperial Valley February 9th, and single games with Palomar and Mt. San Antonio on February 12th and 19th respectively.
