Baseball Team's Rally Falls Just Short

The MSJC baseball team came storming back on Wednesday at Mt. San Antonio, but gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth to lose a non conference match up 9-8.

The Eagles who fell behind 5-0 and 8-1 rallied in the late innings, but came up just short.  MSJC scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th and 5 runs in the top of the 8th to tie the game at 8, but the Mounties were able to push across the winning run on an RBI single in the ninth.

Markalexander Gamo continued his hot hitting for the Eagles going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored, 3 walks, and an RBI.  Jeff Ricker also added 3 hits for MSJC as they out hit Mt. SAC 15-8.  Johnny Armenta had two hits and 2 RBIs for the Eagles in the loss.

Sean Sanders went three innings in relief for the Eagles taking the loss.  Sanders surrendered just one hit, but walked four before leaving the game in the bottom of the ninth.  Jesus Hernandez gave up the game winning hit in relief of Sanders.  Hector Flores started on the mound for MSJC going 3 and 1/3 allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits.

The loss drops MSJC to 3-4 on the season while the Mounties improved to 5-1.  The Eagles are back in action today when they host Imperial Valley at 2 pm.
