Baseball Team Cruises in Opener
The MSJC baseball team scored in every inning except the second as they opened the season at home with a 14-1 victory over L.A. City.
Sophomore Drew Madrigal had an impressive outing on the mound throwing six shutout innings, allowing just one hit and one walk, while striking out 11. The Eagles collected 14 hits on the afternoon, including two each by; Justin Wybenga, John Eschleman, Garret Caldwell, and Ryan Lefevre.
MSJC led 2-0 after three innings before breaking the game open with four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Wybenga and Caldwell had 2 RBI a piece as did Madrigal who along with his pitching effort went 1 for 1 at the plate with two walks. L.A. City did not score until the ninth inning and only managed four hits for the game. The Eagles got solid relief pitching from Michael Crain, Robert Byers, and Raul Gonzales to close out the victory.
MSJC is right back in action today as they travel to Compton College for a 2 pm game.
