Baseball Team Gets Past Imperial
The MSJC baseball team got a complete game from starting pitcher Joe Fernandez as they won 4-2 Saturday at Imperial Valley.
The Eagles jumped out on top with two runs in the top of the first inning and never let go of the lead. MSJC would add single runs in the top of the fifth and top of the sixth, before allowing two Arab runs. Manny Mendoza went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs for MSJC, while lead off hitter Markalexander Gamo was 2 for 5 with a double and a triple and a run scored. Vince Canales also added two hits and scored two runs while Jeff Ricker added an RBI.
Fernandez ended the game going 9 innings allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out 4. The two runs scored by IVC were unearned runs. The Eagles are now 2-3 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Grossmont College in a 2 pm game.
