Baseball Team Picks Up Sweep of Barstow
The MSJC baseball team picked up their first two Foothill Conference wins of the season on Saturday as they swept Barstow in a doubleheader at home.
In game one Ryan Clark shut down the Vikings going 7 solid innings on the mound allowing just one hit and no runs on his way to his second victory of the year. Chris Borst came out of the bullpen to throw two perfect innings of relief. Jeff Ricker had 3 hits and an RBI for the Eagle offense while Travis Bates and Vince Canales added two hits a piece, Canales also scored twice. MSJC won game one 5-0.
In the second game of the day it was more of the same on the mound as Miguel Navarro threw a complete game striking out 16 Barstow hitters to pick up the win 6-3. All three of the Vikings runs in the second game were unearned. Max Waldroff and Chase Phillips both had two hits in the night cap, Phillips also drove in two runs. Paul Cortes, Blake English, and Randy Castro also picked up an RBI a piece for the Eagles.
MSJC is now 4-10 on the season and 2-4 in Foothill Conference action. The Eagles play a three game series this week with Chaffey. Tuesday and Saturday's games are scheduled for Rancho Cucamonga with Thursday's game being played at home.
Miguel Navarro threw a complete game on Saturday striking out 16 Barstow hitters as the Eagles swept the visiting Vikings 5-0 and 6-3.
