Baseball Team Sets School Record for Victories
The MSJC baseball team swept a doubleheader from host College of the Deset on Saturday and in the process set a school record for wins in a season. The two wins moved the Eagles season record to 28-9 and they improved to 17-4 in Foothill Conference play.
B.J. Salsbury won the opener picking up his 11th win against just one loss on the season. Jacob Negrete picked up the win in game two moving his record on the mound to a perfect 5-0 on the year. Drew Madrigal picked up five hits over two games and Jeff Bunch drove in three runs in game one to help the offensive attack.
The Eagles are chasing Chaffey who is now 15-3 for the Foothill Conference crown. MSJC has just three games left against Antelope Valley while the Panthers still have six games to play. Chaffey has a three game series left with both San Bernardino and Desert. The Eagles travel to Lancaster on Thursday for a 2:30 game and then return home for a doubleheader on Saturday against AVC with the first game starting at 12 pm.
Jeff Bunch (above) had 3 RBI in game one of a doubleheader Saturday to help the Eagles to a sweep of COD. Steve Alonzo (below) has guided the Eagles to a single season school record in victories as MSJC won games 27 and 28 on Saturday.
