Baseball Team Sweeps Imperial Valley

The MSJC baseball team stayed unbeaten on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Imperial Valley on Thursday. The Eagles won game one 8-1 and game two 18-5 to move their record to 6-0 on the year.

In game one B.J. Salsbury pitched a complete game striking out 10 while moving to 2-0 on the season. Justin Wybenga and Josh Ray both collected 3 hits while Drew Madrigal and Chris Houston each picked up two RBI.

In game two the Eagles offense erupted for 20 hits as they jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings. Ray was the offensive start of the game picking up 3 hits, including a home run, and collecting 4 RBI. Devin Greco was also big as he picked up 5 hits and 5 RBI. Anthony Martinez earned his second victory of the season on the mound going five innings and allowing just one earned run. Robert Byers and Larry Gibson came out of the bullpen to pitch two scoreless innings in relief.

MSJC is scheduled to be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Citrus for a doubleheader at 12 pm.
