Baseball Team Sweeps Victor Valley
The MSJC baseball team pushed their winning streak to six games this past week taking all three of their games against Victor Valley.
On Thursday the Eagles won 12-2 in San Jacinto behind the strong pitching of B.J. Salsbury. Salsbury threw seven innings allowing just one earned run and striking out seven to improve his season record to 8-1 on the mound. Anthony Smith had four hits and two RBI to lead the way offensively. Garret Caldwell also added two RBI as did Randy Bruce who got his on a towering two run home run.
In Victorville on Saturday the Eagles swept a doubleheader by scores of 6-3 and 11-1. In game one MSJC came from behind with four runs in the top of the seventh for the win. Jacob Negrete pitched a complete game to up his record to 3-0 on the season. Caldwell had 2 RBI on two hits. John Eshleman also had two hits and scored a run. In the nightcap the Eagles exploded for five runs in the top of the fifth to increase their lead to 8-0 and put the game out of reach. Josh Ray had 3 RBI on two hits including a two run homer. Caldwell again added 2 RBI giving him 6 in the series. Drew Madrigal picked up the pitching victory in six innings of work, he also added three hits for the Eagles. Devin Greco also had three hits.
The Eagles are now 20-7 on the season and 12-3 in Foothill Conference action, one game behind conference leading San Bernardino Valley. MSJC is at home Tuesday for a non conference game with Compton then return to Foothill play Thursday and Saturday when they take on San Bernardino in a three game series.
