Cerro Coso Late Rally Sinks MSJC Baseball
The MSJC baseball team gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday in Ridgecrest to lose a tough one to Cerro Coso 4-3.
After trailing 2-0 through 5 innings, the Eagles rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead. Garret Viega scored on a wild pitch and a few batters later Sal Estanislo hit a two run double to score Blake English and Vince Canales.
The game stayed at 3-2 until the bottom of the ninth when the Coyotes rallied for the victory. Cerro Coso got the lead off hitter on due to an error on the Eagles, after a sacrifice bunt and a ground out the Eagles were one out away from victory. The Coyotes however got back to back hits and won on a close call at the plate that would have forced the game into extra innings. Ryan Clark took the hard luck loss on the mound allowing three earned runs on 5 hits.
The Eagles are now 16-16 overall and 12-9 in Foothill Conference action. The Eagles will wrap up the regular season this week with four games. MSJC will host Rio Hondo on Tuesday and Friday and travel to Imperial Valley on Wednesday and Rio on Thursday.
Sal Estanislo went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs on Saturday, but it wasn't quite enough as MSJC lost at Cerro Coso 4-3.
