The MSJC baseball team erupted for six runs in the bottom of the second inning Thursday as they defeated visiting Cerro Coso College 10-3.
Blake English, Adam Balliger, and Steven Brown all had 2 RBIs for MSJC as the Eagles scored 10 runs on 10 hits. Cerro Coso scored a run in the top of the second inning, before MSJC rallied for six in the bottom half. The Eagles added a single run in the bottom of the fifth to push the lead to 7-1. The Coyotes would add two in the top of the sixth, but MSJC answered two innings later to put the game away scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Miguel Navarro threw a complete game on the mound to pick up the victory for MSJC. Navarro (5-6), allowed 7 hits and two earned runs in the game while striking out 4 Cerro Coso hitters and walking two.
The Eagles improved to 16-15 overall and 12-8 in Foothill Conference games while Cerro Coso dropped to 6-24 and 4-16. MSJC will travel to Ridgecrest Saturday to complete the three game series with Cerro Coso. Game time on Saturday is set for 12pm.
MSJC wraps up the season next week with four games, three against league leading Rio Hondo. The Eagles will host Rio Hondo on Tuesday and Friday of next week.
