Eagles Beat Cerritos in Game 1

The MSJC baseball team won game one of their best of 3 Southern CalifornJosh Rayia Regional baseball series with Cerritos Friday 13-7. Game two will be at MSJC tomorrow at 11 am with game three to follow if necessary 30 minutes after the conclusion of game 2.

In Friday's game Cerritos scored first getting a run in the top of the second inning. The Eagles responded in the bottom of the fourth when they erupted for six runs. During the inning MSJC collected 6 hits and sent 10 hitters to the plate. B.J. Salsbury picked up the win on the mound for MSJC going 5 2/3 innings allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits. Josh Peters and K.C. Campbell combined to go 3 1/3 allowing no earned runs.

Anthony Smith and Drew Madrigal each had 3 RBIs in the game. Josh Ray added 2 RBIs including a towering solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth.

The win improved the Eagles to 32-10 on the year while Cerritos fell to 26-17.
