Eagles Lose Regular Season Finale; Wait on Play-off Pairings
The MSJC baseball team lost Thursday to Long Beach City 8-3 to finish the regular season at 31-10 overall.
The Eagles who won the Foothill Conference championship will find out on Sunday who they will play in the first round of the Southern California Regional Tournament. Thursday right fielder John Eshleman set a school record for hits in a season when he picked up hits number 74 and 75 in the loss. Devin Greco drove in all three of MSJC's runs in the game. Drew Madrigal suffered the loss despite giving up just two earned runs in four innings of work. Madrigal struck out three Vikings on the afternoon to finish the season with 128 K's in 95 1/3 innings.
The 2009 Eagles also set the school record for wins in a season. MSJC is hoping for a seed somewhere between 6 and 8 when the pairings are announced. If the Eagles are seeded #8 or higher they will host the first round best of three series Friday and Saturday May 8th and 9th.
Sophomore John Eshleman set the single season hit record for MSJC Thursday when he picked up two hits to finish the season with 75.
