Eagles Play Three Non Conference Games Over Spring Break

The MSJC baseball team lost two close games last week before bouncing back for a win on Saturday as they played three games against Orange Empire Conference teams over Spring Break.

On Tuesday the Eagles lost at fourth ranked Santa Ana 6-4.  MSJC fell behind 6-1, but battled back to make it a close game scoring a single run in the fourth, fifth, and eighth inning.  Garret Viega, Adam Balliger, and Vince Canales each drove in a run for the Eagles in the loss.

On Thursday the Eagles let a 5-1 lead slip away as they lost at Fullerton 8-6.  The Hornets rallied for six runs in the bottom of the eighth for the victory.  Blake English drove in 3 runs in the loss for MSJC.  Viega and Canales again had an RBI a piece for the Eagles.

MSJC bounced back on Saturday to defeat Saddleback at home 11-2.  Steven Brown had two hits and drove in two runs to help spark the Eagles to the victory.  Travis Bates and Balliger also drove in two runs a piece for MSJC.  Ryan Clark threw a complete game for the victory allowing just 2 runs while striking out six.

The Eagles who are now 12-14 overall and 8-7 in the Foothill Conference will return to conference action this week as they play College of the Desert in a three game series.  MSJC will be at home Tuesday at 2:30 pm and Saturday at noon.  The Eagles will travel to Palm Desert on Thursday for a 2:30 game.
