Eagles Score 46 Runs in 3 Game Sweep of AVC

The MSJC baseball team had an explosive offensive week as they defeated Antelope Valley three times scoring a combined 46 runs in the series.

In Thursday's series opener in Lancaster the Eagles had 18 hits in route to a 17-12 win over the Marauders. Center fielder Joe Riley led the way with 3 hits and 3 RBIs while shortstop Matt Palmer and third baseman Alex Ariza also had 3 runs driven in. Josh Peters picked up his 8th win of the season on the mound going five innings and striking out three.

In Saturday's first game of the doubleheader Dakota Downs threw a complete game on the mound for MSJC picking up his second win of the year. Downs allowed just 4 hits and gave up only 2 unearned runs in the 10-2 win. Seven different Eagles had RBIs in the game led by two a piece from Ryan Shumway and Brant Alonzo.

In the final game of the series MSJC fell behind 5-0 before rallying for 5 runs in the bottom of the third, 4 in the fourth, and 7 in the fifth to blow the game open. Scott Simmons pitched 5 solid innings in relief to get his second win of the year. Shortstop Ryan Diaz had 5 RBIs in the game including a two run homer. Designated hitter Randy Bruce added a three run homer and third baseman Chris Houston also added 3 RBIs.

The Eagles are now 21-10-1 overall and 12-8-1 in Foothill Conference action. MSJC wraps up the regular season with a three game series against Rio Hondo this week. Tuesday the Eagles host the Roadrunners at 2:30 pm and Thursday MSJC travels to Whittier for a doubleheader starting noon.
