The MSJC baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday at Compton losing the first game 9-8 and bouncing back for a 16-13 win in the nightcap.
In game one Compton jumped out on top 3-1 with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and added four more in the second to extend the lead to 7-1 before the Eagles rallied. Josh Barry had 2 RBIs in game one to go along with 2 hits. Bryant Viega and Jimmy Torres also picked up a pair of RBIs each for the Eagles.
In the second game the Eagles bats stayed hot as MSJC collected 16 hits and scored 16 runs. The big hit came in a five run fifth as Barry pinch hit with the bases loaded and delivered a grand slam. Lawrence Gibson picked up the win on the mound for MSJC and Dale De Schepper threw a perfect ninth for the save.
The Eagles are back in action Tuesday Feb. 5th when they host Pasadena in a 2 pm game.
