Fast Start Lifts Eagles to Baseball Win
The MSJC baseball team jumped out to a 9-3 lead after three innings on Wednesday and cruised to a 12-5 win over Imperial Valley in a non conference game.
The Eagles first four batters of the game scored as Johnny Armenta hit a three run homerun that was followed by a solo homer from Garret Viega. MSJC added four more runs in the top of the second and a single run in the third to take control of the game. The Eagles would add another run in the top of the seventh and scored their final two runs of the afternoon in the ninth.
Armenta finished the game with 4 RBIs, Viega finished with 3 while lead off hitter Travis Bates drove in two. Garret Hicks picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles throwing 7 innings and allowing 4 earned runs. Michael Pamaran came on in relief and pitched two perfect innings to end the game.
The Eagles are now 17-17 on the season while Imperial fell to 13-20. MSJC wraps up their season with a game today at Rio Hondo and a game Friday against Rio at home. Both games are scheduled for 2:30 pm.
