The MSJC baseball team let a 6-0 lead slip away Tuesday, but rallied to win in the bottom of the tenth as they defeated visiting Victor Valley College 7-6 in a Foothill Conference game.
The Eagles broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth when they scored 4 runs. MSJC added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead to 6-0.
Starting pitcher Ryan Kendall held the Rams scoreless through six innings while striking out 9, but gave way to the bullpen in the seventh. Victor Valley scored one run in the top of the seventh and pushed across five runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game at 6. Both teams made no threat in the ninth to send the game into extra innings. Eagle reliever Justin Robinson who threw 2 and 1/3 innings allowing just one hit and no runs, shut down the Rams in the top of the tenth to set up MSJC's winning run.
Blake English led off the bottom of the 10th with a walk, he later stole second, and two batters later Sal Estanislao added an infield hit to put runners on first and third with one out. The Eagles then went to Randy Castro as a pinch hitter and Castro delivered with the game winning hit to left scoring English.
