Rio Hondo Scores Six in the Eighth to Defeat Eagles

The MSJC baseball team lost their final regular season home game on Tuesday giving up six runs in the eighth inning to fall to Rio Hondo 11-5.

The Eagles fell behind early 5-0, but rallied to tie the game with a five run bottom of the third. Alex Araiza and Ryan Diaz both knocked in two runs in the inning. Chris Houston, who went 3 for 5 on the day, knocked in the other. There would be no more scoring until the eighth when Rio rallied.

Josh Peters took the loss on the mound despite giving up just three earned runs in seven plus innings. The Eagles committed 5 errors on the day. The loss drops MSJC to 21-11-1 overall and 12-9-1 in Foothill Conference play. The Eagles wrap up the regular season on Thursday when they travel to Whittier for a doubleheader against Rio Hondo. The first game is set to begin at noon.
