Salsbury Throws No Hitter in Baseball Sweep
B.J. Salsbury threw a no hitter in the first game of a MSJC baseball sweep of visiting Imperial Valley on Thursday. Salsbury, who struck out 9 in seven innings of work, was one batter away from throwing a perfect game. IVC's first hitter of the game reached on an error before Salsbury retired the next 21 in a row in the 7-0 win. The victory on the mound moved Salsbury's record to 3-0 on the season.
MSJC was led offensively in the opener by Josh Ray who had three hits and two RBI in the game to go along with a stolen base. Randy Bruce had two hits and an RBI while Devin Greco and Drew Madrigal also drove home a run.
In the second game the Eagles collected 15 hits on their way to a 8-3 win. The victory made MSJC a perfect 4-0 against IVC on the season and improved their overall record to 8-1. Anthony Martinez got the win on the mound as he stayed perfect at 3-0 on the season. Travis Hansen had a big day at the plate going 4 for 4 with two triples and a double while driving in three runs. Madrigal picked up two more RBI on three hits. Robert Byers picked up his first save of the season in relief.
MSJC is back in action when they travel to Citrus College on Monday to take on the Owls in a doubleheader. The first game starts at 10 am.
