Three MSJC baseball players were named to the All Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Team when the selections were announced last week.
Outfielder Manny Mendoza, designated hitter Kash Mattson, and utility player Johnny Valdez were each honored as First Team All Conference picks. Mendoza, a sophomore from Paloma Valley High School, led the Eagles in RBIs this season with 26. Mendoza also had a team high 13 extra base hits including 6 triples while hitting .316. Mattson a freshman from Riverside Poly H.S. led the team with a .350 batting average and also had 14 RBIs and 9 extra base hits on the year. Valdez who split time between third base and left field had a team high 3 homeruns while driving in 16 runs and hitting .318. Valdez is a freshman from Hemet High.
Five Eagle sophomores were named Honorable Mention All PCAC. Pitchers Augie Gallardo of Hemet and Austin Bowker of Heritage High both made the list. Bowker won a team best 6 games for the Eagles this year while Gallardo pitched a team high 68 and 2/3 innings. Centerfielder Kyle Mead of Temecula Chaparral, who led MSJC with 21 stolen bases, also made the Honorable Mention list along with catcher Jeremy Schreiber of Heritage, and Maralexander Gamo of Rancho Verde.
These players along with their teammates helped the Eagles to an overall record this season of 19-17 and MSJC went 14-10 in their first season as a member of the PCAC.
Manny Mendoza, who led the MSJC baseball team this season with 26 RBIs, was one of three Eagles to be named First Team All PCAC, five others made the Honorable Mention list.
