The MSJC football team who finished the season 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the Mountain Conference had seven players named First Team All Conference and six others named to the second team when the awards were announced Tuesday night. This was the second straight year the Eagles finished the season bowl eligible.
Leading the way for the Eagles were four unanimous first team picks; tight end Perris Scoggins, kicker Jamie Lucio, return specialist Emanuel Hamilton, and defensive end Brian Malone. Joining those four on the first team were quarterback Nigel Barksdale, defensive tackle Anthony Gordon, and cornerback Kenny Bell. Lucio ended the season 36 of 38 on extra point attempts and 8 of 9 on field goals including a season long 50 yarder. Malone finished the season 7th in the conference in sacks with 3. Hamilton was the Mountain Conference's leading kick off return man averaging a league high 26.4 yards a return and ran two back for touchdowns. Scoggins ended his Eagle career with a season that included 21 catches for 355 yards and 3 tds. Barksdale, who started all 20 games in his MSJC career, finished the year with over 2,000 total yards good enough to rank second in that category in the Mountain Conference.
