Defense Shuts Down Mesa; Eagles Win Third in a Row

The MSJC football team won for the third straight week on Saturday as they traveled to San Diego Mesa College and came away with a 14-7 victory.

The Eagles defense was tough all day as they held the Olympians to just 193 yards of total offense on the afternoon.  Safety Brandon Thigpen and cornerback Cejay Ceniza both picked off a pass for the Eagles.  Bronson Alfafara led the team in tackles with 7 while Thigpen and Kyle Patterson added 6 a piece.

On offense the Eagles got touchdown runs from Franex Dort and Nigel Barksdale to account for their two scores.  Dort ended the day rushing for 115 yards on 25 carries while Barksdale finished with 69 yards on the ground.  Through the air Barksdale was 13 of 20 passing, his favorite target on the day was Tyrone Richardson who had 4 receptions.

The win moved the Eagles record to 5-4 on the season and 3-1 in Mountain Conference action.  MSJC closes out the regular season on Saturday November 13th when they host Victor Valley at Carl Quandt Stadium.  Kick off on Saturday is set for 1 pm.
