Eagle Football Season Ends in 21-14 Loss
The MSJC football team finished up their season on Saturday with a 21-14 loss in Victorville to Victor Valley College.
The Rams got on the board fist as they put up the only points of the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead after one. Early in the second MSJC was able to tie the game when quarterback Zach Chesser, playing for the injured Chad Virgil, connected with Delontra Fields on a 27 yard touchdown pass. Victor Valley would score late in the half to take a 14-7 lead into the halftime break.
The Rams pushed the lead out to 21-7 in the third quarter and then both defenses held strong for the rest of the game as the Eagles scored their second TD on the day with just 1 second left to play on a pass from Chesser to Dane Futrell.
Chesser finished the day going 19 for 31 passing for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jaron Johnson had a team high 6 receptions for 53 yards while Fields caught 4 passes for 65 yards. Dejon Brown had a team high 9 tackles to lead the defense while Johnny Williams had 8.
The Eagles finished the season with an overall record of 4-6 and a Mountain Conference mark of 3-4.
