Laster Defensive P.O.Y; Seven Others Honored

Clarence Laster was named the Mountain Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the MSJC football team it was announced last week.  The sophomore saftey from West Valley High School led the conference in tackles with 109 on the season.

Joining Laster on the first team were punter Zoltan Riazzo and offensive tackle Eric Varela.  Riazzo, a sophomore from Anza, led the conference in punting with an average of 39 yards per punt.  Jason Wynn, Fontayne Fuga, Chad Hansen, Aubrey Bell, and Chris Chamberlain were all named Second Team All Mountain Comference.

Hansen, an outside linebacker, was third in the conference in tackles with 99.  Fuga also a llinebacker was first in the conference in tackles for a loss with 15.5 and fifth in sacks at 5.5.  Aubrey Bell, a sophomore corner back, picked off three passes during the year good enough for ninth in the conference.   Freshman tight end Chris Chamberlain had 13 catches and four touchdowns on the season.  Jason Wynn is a freshman offensive guard.  For a complete list of the All Conferenc team follow the linke below.
