The MSJC men's basketball team lost at home for the first time this season on Saturday as they fell to the visiting Barstow Vikings 77-65.
The Vikings started out strong jumping out of the gates to a 15 point lead, but the Eagles closed the first half on a 19-6 run to send the game into halftime with Barstow leading 32-27. In the second half the Eagles got as close as two on a few occasions, but could never seize the lead. MSJC shot just 18 of 69 from the field for the day and made just one of 10 three point attempts.
Dakota Downs led the MSJC offense with 26 points and also tied for the team high in rebounds with 8. Darren May added 12 points, while Eric Lawton had 11. The loss drops MSJC to 17-7 overall and 6-4 in the Foothill Conference while Barstow improved to 20-4 and 8-2.
MSJC is still just two games out of the Foothill Conference race with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Eagles are back in action Wednesday when they host Rio Hondo College. Wednesday's game can be heard on the Eagle Radio Network at msjc.edu or locally on AM 1620.
