Big First Half Pushes Eagles Past Antelope
The third ranked MSJC men's basketball team came out of the gates fast on Wednesday night building a 23 po
int lead in the first half on their way to an easy 80-60 victory over 10th ranked Antelope Valley in Lancaster.
The Eagles made 7 of their 8 three point baskets on the night in the first half to take a 47-24 lead at halftime. In the second half MSJC built the lead to as much as 35, before AVC made some shots late to close the final margin to 20. D'Anthony Peterson came off the bench for the Eagles to score a game high 23 points. Taylor Bell added 14, while Josh Gouch and Montreal Harris both had 12 for MSJC.
The win was the 11th in a row for the Eagles and they improved to 7-0 in the Foothill Conference and 18-3 overall. Antelope Valley fell to 17-4 and 5-2 in conference play. MSJC now holds a two game lead in the conference race over both AVC and Saturday's opponent San Bernardino Valley (5-2, Foothill).
The Eagles travel to San Bernardino Saturday for a 3 pm game. MSJC will return home next Wednesday February 1st to take on Barstow College in a game that tips off at 7 pm.
D'Anthony Peterson led the MSJC offense on Wednesday with 23 points as the 3rd ranked Eagles defeated Foothill Conference rival and 10th ranked Antelope Valley 80-60.
