Chaffey Knocks Off MSJC in Men's Hoops

MSJC held a six point halftime lead, but were unable to hold on to it as they lost in Rancho Cucamonga to first place Chaffey Saturday 69-65.

The loss drops the Eagles to 18-8 overall on the season and 7-5 in Foothill Conference while the Panthers improved to 17-7 and 10-2.  Both teams have two regular season games remaining.

Saturday the Eagles took advantage of solid play from point guard Darren May to build a 33-27 halftime lead.  Despite shooting 43% behind the three point line and 40% for the game the Eagles went cold midway through the second half while Chaffey heated up to take the lead.  The Panthers would push the lead to as much as 8, but MSJC stayed in it until the end forcing three of Chaffey's 8 turnovers in the final two minutes.  The Panthers however took advantage of late free throw opportunities to hold on for the win.

May ended the game as the Eagles top scorer with 18 to go along with 4 assists.  Dakota Downs recorded another double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jammall Clark added 12 points.  The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Victorville to take on Victor Valley College.  Tip-off for Wednesday is scheduled at 7:30 pm and you can hear the game on the Eagle Radio Network at msjc.edu or on the radio at AM 1620.
