Eagle Men Champions of Palomar Tournament
The MSJC men's basketball team brought home the championship from the Palomar College Thanksgiving Tournament by winning three straight games over the weekend.
The Eagles started the tournament on Friday with a 75-70 win over Miramar behind 19 points and 8 rebounds from Jammall Clark. Zach Ngawaka added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the victory while Alex Wilson came off the bench to dish out 7 assists.
In Saturday's semi-final MSJC edged out a 76-72 win over previously unbeaten Southwestern College. Eric Lawton had 14 points including two critical free throws with 3.8 seconds remaining
to help the Eagles put the game away.
In Sunday's championship game Clark and Dakota Downs both scored 22 points as MSJC defeated LA Trade Tech 98-90. Downs also pulled in a game high 14 rebounds while Lawton added 16 points. The three wins improve MSJC's record to 8-2 on the season. Lawton was named to the All Tournament Team while Clark was named the tournament's MVP for his play over the three day event.
The Eagles will be back action on Friday when they travel to Lancaster to play in the Antelope Valley College Tournament. MSJC opens the tournament with a 1 pm game against College of the Canyons.
