Eagle Men Clinch Share of Conference Title
The MSJC men's basketball team won a share of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division title on Wednesday night as they defeated San Diego Miramar 85-60 on the road.
The Eagles have now won 17 games in a row and clinched a share of the North Division title, MSJC can win the crown out right on Friday night when they travel to El Cajon to take on Grossmont. The Eagles currently lead Grossmont by one game with just Friday night's game left in the regular season.
On Wednesday the Eagles rode the hot hand of Dajuan Smith as he scored 18 of his game high 27 points in the first half to help the Eagles to a 45-35 lead at the break. MSJC started to pull away midway through the second half as they pushed the lead to 20 at 63-43 with 10 minutes left in the game. Sam Williams and Blake O'Donnell both also hit double figures in scoring for MSJC with 16 and 10 points respectively. The Eagles set the tone by out rebounding Miramar 22-7 in the first half and 49-22 for the game.
The Eagles improved their record to 23-3 on the season and 7-0 in PCAC North play. MSJC is currently ranked #1 in Southern California and #2 in the state in the latest California Community College Coaches Poll.
Dajuan Smith had 27 points on Wednesday night to lead the MSJC men's basketball team to aan 85-60 win over Mirimar, the victory gave the Eagles at least a share of the PCAC North Division title.
