Eagle Point Guard Signs with Arkansas-Little Rock
Mt. San Jacinto sophomore point guard D'Andre Williams signed a scholarship today with The University of Arkansas-Little Rock. Williams is a native of El Paso, Texas and played one season at Odessa Community College before transferring to MSJC.
Williams was a First Team All Foothill Conference performer this past season leading the Eagles to a 21-9 overall record and a runner up finish in the Foothill Conference. For the season he averaged 9.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 3 rebounds a game. During conference action Williams pushed his scoring average to 10.4 points per contest. "We thought replacing Melvin Goins (University of Tennessee) at the point was going to be an impossible task this year," said Eagle head coach Patrick Springer, "But D'Andre filled the role great for us this year and was a true point guard and leader."
Williams had a season high 24 points on December 8, 2009 against Cerritos College during the Riverside Holiday Tournament. He also finished the year shooting 46% beyond the three point line and 82% from the charity stripe. Williams becomes the 28th player to sign a Division I scholarship under head coach Patrick Springer and the 16th since Springer came to Mt. San Jacinto prior to the 2003-04 season.
