The MSJC men's basketball team opened the post season on Wednesday night with a 69-67 home victory over visiting Fullerton College.
The Eagles led by as much as 8 in the second half, but had to hold on down the stretch to pull out the victory. Fullerton's Tyler Payne got to the free throw line with 2 seconds left, but missed both free throws to give MSJC their 20th win of the season.
Montreal Harris had a big game for the Eagles with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Harris also added a steal and three assists. Mylin Jordan and Dajuan Smith gave the Eagles an offensive spark off the bench as they went for 12 and 10 points. Hassante Manning added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the victory. MSJC out rebounded Fullerton on the night 36-31.
The win improved MSJC to 20-10 on the season and moved them into the second round of the Southern California Regional Tournament, while Fullerton ended the season at 14-14. The Eagles will travel to #2 seeded Ventura on Saturday for their next game. Saturday's game is set for 5:30 pm in Ventura.
