Eagles Knock Off Tenth Ranked Chaffey

The MSJC men's basketball team played 40 minutes of great defense Wednesday night on their way to a 76-66 win over visiting Chaffey College, the state' tenth ranked team.

The Eagles held the high scoring Panthers to just 23 points in the first half on theJeffrey Westir way to an 11 point lead at the break. The tempo picked up in half number two but the Eagles were able to match Chaffey's scoring to maintain the lead. Jeffrey West led four MSJC players in double figures with 20 points and he also snatched 8 rebounds. Jammall Clark and Tykie Harris both came off the bench to score 12 points a piece and Eric Lawton added 11.  Darnell Ferguson collected a game high 13 rebounds for the Eagles.

The victory pulled the Eagles into a second place tie with Chaffey and improved their Foothill Conference record to 5-2. The Eagles are now 16-6 overall, and currently ranked #14 in the state. MSJC kicks off round two of conference play on Friday when they travel to Victorville to take on Victor Valley.
