Eagles Men Beat Rio, Move to 3-1 in Conference
The MSJC men's basketball team picked up a Foothill Conference win Friday when they defeated Rio Hondo College 73-61.
The Eagles led by just one at the half before turning on the offense in the second half behind the inspired play of freshman Eric Lawton. Lawton ended the night with 23 points on blistering 10 of 13 shooting from the floor as the Eagles outscored the Roadrunners 46-35 in the second half. Lawton got plenty of support from his teammates as fellow West Valley grad Dakota Downs had 14 points and 10 rebounds while sophomore Jeffrey West added 13. Tykie Harris also reached double figures on the night with 11 to go along with his 10 boards. Point guard D'Andre Williams just missed double digits with 8 points and he recorded a game high 5 assists.
The win improved MSJC to 14-5 on the season and 3-1 in Foothill Conference play. The Eagles will be in Lancaster on Wednesday night to take on Antelope Valley in a key conference match up. Currently the Eagles are one game behind conference leading San Bernardino Valley. MSJC will follow Wednesday's game with a trip to Barstow on Friday before returning home January 27th to take on Chaffey College.
All three games start at 7 pm and can be heard on the Eagle Radio Network at AM 1620 or across the internet at msjc.edu.
