Eagles Open Conference With a Victory

Raymond WilliamsThe MSJC men's basketball team opened conference play Saturday with an impressive 100-72 victory over visiting Victor Valley College. The win propelled the Eagles to 17-2 on the season as they remain the #1 ranked team in Southern California and the #2 ranked team in the state.

On Saturday it was hot shooting from the entire team as the Eagles placed five player in double figures led by Tim Island's 24 points. Dejuan Flowers also had a big game scoring 18 points and pulling in 9 rebounds. The combination of point guards for MSJC was also very strong as the tandem of Mark Williams and Raymond Williams (pictured) combined for 27 points and 15 assists. Lee Stephens was the fifth Eagle in double figures with 15 points.

MSJC will face Barstow College on Wednesday in Barstow in their first conference road test. The Eagles return home on Saturday Jan. 12th to take on San Bernardino Valley at 3 pm.
