MSJC ran up 99 points Wednesday night as they ended a two game losing streak with a 99-92 win over visiting Chaffey College. The victory was the 20th of the season for the Eagles who improved to 20-4 overall and 4-2 in the Foothill Conference.
Mark Williams led the Eagles charge scoring 31 pointed and dishing out 12 assists. Williams got MSJC off to a quick start scoring 13 points in the first six minutes of the game. The Eagles transition game forced Chaffey to go into a zone defense for most of the last 30 minutes of the contest. The Eagles also took advantage of Chaffey's aggression defensively scoring several lay-ins at the basket. The Eagles shot an amazing 58% from the field for the game and 39% from the three point line. While Chaffey, the state's top scoring offense, went just 7-34 from long range good for only 20%.
Lee Stephens narrowly missed a double double with 15 points and 9 rebounds, while teammates Marc Wilson (13), Dejuan Flowers (10), and Rodney Williams (10) also scored in double digits.
The Eagles travel to Whittier on Saturday to take on Rio Hondo College at 1 pm. MSJC returns home on Wednesday February 6th when they host Barstow at 7 pm. Listen to all the action on the Eagle Radio Network at AM 1620 or on the internet at msjc.edu.
