Eagles Set to Host Citrus in Regional Semi-Final

Southern California Regional Semi-Final Game
#11 Citrus (16-8) vs  #3 Mt. San Jacinto (24-4)
 
Tonight’s game is a Southern California Regional Semi-Final Contest.  Citrus comes into tonight’s game after defeating East Los Angeles College 86-81 in double overtime on Friday night.  MSJC advanced with a 78-56 win over Ventura College on Saturday.
 
The Eagles come into the contest as co-Champions of the PCAC North Division with an overall record of 24-4 and they are seeded #3 in the Region.  Citrus is the #11 seed in Southern Cal with a record of 16-8 and were the third place finishers in the Western States South Division.
 
MSJC is led in offense by PCAC North Player of the Year Dwayne Benjamin who comes into tonight’s contest averaging 21.2 points per game.  First Team All PCAC North guard Dajuan Smith is second on the team in scoring at 14.3 points per contest.  Sam Williams, also a first team all conference pick is the third Eagle averaging double figures scoring at 10 a game.
 
The Owls come into tonight’s game led by Western States South Division player of the year Chris Reyes.  Reyes averages 19 points and over 12 rebounds per contest.  All WSS selections Danny Cheek (12.7 ppg) and Justin Childress (9.6 ppg) are the team’s next two top scorers.
 
These two teams met back on November 16th in the semi-finals of the San Diego City Tournament with the Eagles edging out an 84-83 victory.
 
The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the State Final Eight and the So. Cal Regional Finals against the winner of the Glendale/San Bernardino Valley game.  The Regional Final will be played at the highest remaining seed’s home floor on Saturday night.
