The MSJC men's basketball team which is currently ranked #6 in the state hit a bump in the road on Wednesday night as they fell at College of the Desert.
The Eagles who had won three straight fell victim to hot shooting from the host Roadrunners as they lost 95-79. COD got off to a fast start, but MSJC seemed to stem the tide as they pulled even at 35 all late in the first half, but a 7-0 run by the Roadrunners helped them to a 47-40 halftime lead.
In the second half the Eagles once again rallied back and cut the game to 4 points with just over 11 minutes to play, but again the Roadrunners answered with blistering shooting numbers. COD finished the night at 58% from the field and 55% from beyond the three point line.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Sam Natt who hit 8 three point baskets on the night on his way to 24 points. Montreal Harris had a double double in the loss with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Dwayne Benjamin was the only other Eagle to reach double digits with 11 points.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 13-4 overall and 1-1 in Foothill Conference play while COD improved to 5-10 and 1-1. MSJC returns to action on Saturday when they host Rio Hondo College in a 3 pm game.
Sam Natt had a team high 24 points on Wednesday night including 8 three point baskets, but it wasn't enough as the MSJC men's basketball team fell at College of the Desert 95-79.
