Eagles Take Down Third Ranked Chaffey
The MSJC men's basketball team knocked off Chaffey Saturday, the state's #3 ranked team by a score of 87-83.
Melvin Goins had 23 points and 7 assists for the Eagles in what was an exciting back and forth game for 40 minutes. Mark Williams added 16 points for MSJC, Terrance Williams 14 all of which came in the second half. Jeffrey West had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
With the score tied at 83-83, Goins jumper came off the rim into the hands of Terrance Williams and he put the ball back in the basket with :25 to play. The Eagles then were able to get a stop on the defensive end of the floor and on the ensuing possession Mark Williams put the game out of reach with a pair of free throws.
The win improved the Eagles record to 14-7 overall and 3-0 in Foothill Conference action. Chaffed fell to 18-3 and 2-1. MSJC is back in action Wednesday when they travel to Barstow to take on the Vikings. The Vikings are coached by former Eagle assistant reggie Howard.
