Eagles Win Streak Stopped at Eight
The MSJC men's basketball team fell to San Bernardino Valley on Saturday 76-66 dropping them into a first place tie with the Wolverines.
The Eagles were playing a bit short handed as second leading scorer Mark Williams sat the game out with a knee injury and Shenon Johannes played limited minutes with a hip injury. The Wolverines came out on fire shooting very well in the first half to build a 43-29 lead at the break.
MSJC raced out of the locker room however to make it a very competitive game down the stretch. The Eagles had the game to within two points with just over two minutes to play, but SBVC answered each charge with enough baskets to hold off the comeback.
Melvin Goins led the Eagles scoring attack with 19 points while Curtis Bush and Jeffrey West added 12 each for MSJC. The loss ended an eight game winning streak for the Eagles and leaves their record now at 17-8 and 6-1 in Foothill Conference play. The Eagles are back in action Saturday January 31st when they host Antelope Valley at 3 pm.
