Eagles Win Two; Fall in Finals at Antelope Tourney

The MSJC men's basketball team won two games over the weekend before falling in the championship game of the Antelope Valley College Tournament in a close game to the host team.

The Eagles opened the tournament on Friday with a 87-73 victory over Mira Costa College.  Four Eagles reached double figures in scoring led by 20 points from Anthony Dees.  Alex Wilson added 13 points and Danny Hopkins had 12 for MSJC while Montreal Harris had a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

In Saturday's semi-final the Eagles fought back from a five point halftime deficit to defeat Sequoias 78-71.  MSJC had three player hit double digits in this one led by 19 points by Harris.  D'Anthony Peterson added 18 points off the bench and Josh Gouch had 17 points to go along with a team high 8 rebounds.

In the championship game on Sunday the Eagles lost in a close game to undefeated Antelope Valley 78-72.  MSJC trailed 31-29 and the half.  Balanced scoring again was the key for the Eagles who had four players reach double figures.  Wilson and Dees both had 15 for MSJC while Taylor Bell and Greg Dixon both had 11.  Dixon also pulled in 11 rebounds in the losing effort.

Wilson, Harris, and Dees were all named to the All Tournament team for their efforts on the weekend.  The Eagles are now 7-3 on the season and have this week off, before traveling to the Saddleback Tournament December 15th through the 17th.
