Eight Straight For Eagles
The MSJC men's basketball team shook off a slow start on Friday night and cruised to a 79-54 win over visiting Miramar College.
The Eagles played even with Miramar for the first 8 minutes of the game before pushing the halftime lead out to 15 at 40-25 when Dwayne Benjamin made a three point basket just before the end of the half. The Eagles pulled away in the second half as they used their size and dominance on the glass to secure the victory. MSJC shot well on the night going 32 for 67 in the game, while holding Miramar to just 34% from the field. The Eagles finished the night out rebounding Miramar 51 to 27.
Benjamin finished the night with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Dajuan Smith ended the game with 14 points. Patric Bowens also hit double figures with 10 points and Danny Hopkins added 9 off the bench. The win for the Eagles was their eighth in a row and improved their overall record to 14-3. MSJC is 3-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host Grossmont College at 7 pm.
