The MSJC men's basketball team gave themselves a chance on Saturday, but came up just short of a Foothill Conference victory when they lost at San Bernardino Valley 68-64.
The Eagles used a deliberate pace in the first half and held their own on the boards against the very big front line of SBVC to build a 29-25 halftime lead. In the second half a 6 minute stretch of hot shooting by the Wolverines gave them the lead and they would never relinquish it despite a strong late push by the Eagles.
MSJC finished the day with balanced scoring led by Dwayne Benjamin's 13 points. Mylan Jordan came off the bench to add 12 while 7 other players scored between 4 and 7 points. The Eagles finished the day out rebounded SBVC 42-32. The Eagles shot just 35% for the game despite going 8 for 17 from the three point line.
