MSJC Hoops Beats COD; Remain in First Place

The MSJC men's basketball team started the game on an 18-4 run and never looked back as they defeated visiting College of the Desert on Saturday 88-82 to remain one game ahead of San Bernardino VD'AnthonyPetersonriohome.jpgalley in the race for the Foothill Conference title.

The fast start was spearheaded by D'Anthony Peterson who scored 15 of his team high 18 points in the first half as the Eagles built a 50-35 halftime lead.  Poor free throw shooting by MSJC allowed Desert to close the gap late in the game.  Taylor Bell added 17 points for the Eagles in the win while Anthony Dees scored 13.  Alex Wilson had a nice all around game with 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.  Jamar Cannon also scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

The win moved the Eagles to 20-4 overall and 9-1 in the Foothill Conference.  MSJC who is currently ranked #4 in the state reached the 20 win mark for the fifth straight season.  The Eagles hold a one game lead over San Bernardino Valley with four games left to play in the regular season.  MSJC is on the road twice this week with two key games.  Wednesday the Eagles travel to Chaffey College for a 7 pm game and on Saturday visit Victor Valley for a 3 pm match up.
