MSJC Men Make it Three Straight

The MSJC men's basketball team won for the third straight game on Friday when they defeated Victor Valley 64-56 in Victorville.

The Eagles fought through a tough shooting night that included going 0-20 from the three point line. Dominic Tiger-Cortes hit a buzzer beating shot to end the first half off of a Tykie Harris steal and assist to give MSJC a 28-20 lead. Victor Valley came out of the break and scored seven straight points to close to within one, before Dakota Downs took over for the Eagles. After six straight points from Downs the Eagles re established the lead and never trailed again. MSJC built the lead to 12 on four different occasions, but the Rams stayed in the game with explosive offensive rebounding.

On the night Downs led the Eagle offense with 22 points and 12 rebounds while D'Andre Williams added 16 and 5 assists. Darnell Ferguson also reached double figures with 10 points. The win improved MSJC's overall record to 17-6 and pushed their Foothill Conference mark to 6-2. The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to San Bernardino Valley to take on the first place Wolverines. MSJC returns home on Friday February 5th when they host College of the Desert. Both games begin at 7 pm and can be heard on the Eagle Radio Network at AM 1620 or across the internet at msjc.edu.
