MSJC Men Win Palomar Tournament
The Mt. San Jacinto men’s basketball team won three games over the weekend to capture the championship of the Palomar College tournament.
On Friday the Eagles downed Saddleback College 77-55 behind 15 points from guard Mark Williams. On Saturday the Eagles defeated Southwestern College for the third time this season 78-70. In Sunday’s championship game Lee Stephens and Raymond Williams led the way for MSJC as they defeated Los Angeles Trade Tech 75-54. For their efforts this weekend Lee Stephens was named to the all tournament team and Raymond Williams was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
The Eagles who now stand at 7-0 on the season will return home Tuesday night Nov. 27th when they host Mira Costa at 7 pm.
Some former Mt. San Jacinto student athletes also made a splash last week. Marcus Sikes (University of Cincinnati), Dane Johnson (Hofstra University), Andre Gilbert (Kansas State), and Lorenzo Keeler (Cal Poly San Louis Obispo) all scored double figures for their respective teams in division I games over the past few days.
