MSJC Wins; Set Up Title Game

The MSJC men's basketball team won Wednesday at College of the Desert 85-7Melvin Goins6 to set up a showdown with San Bernardino Valley on Saturday for the Foothill Conference title. The Eagles who improved to 11-2 in conference play and 22-9 overall will host the Wolverines at 3 pm.

Wednesday it was the stellar play of point guard Melvin Goins who finished the night with 28 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals that led the Eagles to victory. Mark Williams added 19 points and 5 assists. MSJC closed the first half strong as they went on a 16-7 run to take a 37-28 lead at the break. The Eagles pushed the lead to as much as 16 midway through the second half before COD made one last run at them. MSJC was able to hold off the Roadrunners down the stretch in part due to solid rebounding as they out rebounded COD 41-32 on the night.

Saturday's game with San Bernardino will close out the regular season for MSJC. The Eagles will honor their sophomores before the game. You can hear all the action on the Eagle Radio Network at msjc.edu or AM 1620.
