Men's Basketball Team Opens With Victory
The MSJC men's basketball team kicked off the 2011-12 season with an 88-70 victory over Palomar in the first round of the San Diego City Knights Invitational.
The Eagles had four players score in double figures on the night as they led for most of the game. After a back and forth first eight minutes, MSJC took the lead for good on a three point basket by Anthony Dees with 12:08 to play in the first half and went into halftime with an 48-36 lead.
In the second half the Eagles built the lead to as much as 23, before coasting home with the victory. All 15 of the Eagles' players saw action in the game.
Dees led the MSJC offense with 23 points, he also collected a game high 11 rebounds. Josh Gouch and Montreal Harris both had 15 points for the Eagles in the victory. Greg Dixon joined the group in double figures with 11. Dixon just missed a double double pulling in 9 rebounds.
MSJC, who is now 1-0 on the season, will travel to Chula Vista on Thursday to take on Southwestern College at 2 pm. The Eagles will resume play in the Knights Invitational next Saturday November 19th.
