Men's Hoops Wins at Home; Streak Now 11
The MSJC men's basketball team rode 20 first half points from Dwayne Benjamin to their eleventh straight win as they defeated visiting Imperial Valley on Wednesday 95-79.
Behind the strength of a strong first half from Benjamin the Eagles led 49-35 after 20 minutes of play. In the second half the closest the Arabs could make it was 10 when they cut the lead to 68-58 with just under 11 minutes to play. Dajuan Smith and Sam Williams made sure that was as close as it would get as they made some clutch second half shots.
Benjamin finished the night with 32 points and 9 rebounds, while Williams scored 15 and Smith ended the game with 13, including a thunderous tip dunk in the second half to help put the game away. The Eagles are now 17-3 on the season and have won 11 straight games. Imperial Valley fell to 10-11 on the season.
The Eagles will be at home again tomorrow when they host Cuyamaca at 7 pm. The men's game follows a women's game against Imperial Valley that tips off at 5 pm.
