Men's Basketball Dominates COD
The Mt. San Jacinto men's basketball team missed 8 of their first 10 shots Wednesday, but that was about the only thing that went wrong as they defeated College of the Desert 79-54 in Palm Desert.
Kris Brooks had a monster game for the Eagles as he reached career highs in both points and rebounds with 27 and 19. Dakota Downs also had a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jaree Crawford and John Pressley both added 9 points while Taylor Bell had 8 in the victory.
MSJC held a 10 point halftime lead and then came out in the second half and quickly extended it to 16. The Roadrunners never got closer than 10 points after the break. MSJC out rebounded COD 51-32 on the night and after the slow start from the field ended the game 28-62, shooting 50% after the first 10 shots.
The win improved the Eagles to 17-6 overall on the season and 6-3 in Foothill Conference play while the Roadrunners fell to 5-15, and 2-7. MSJC returns to action Saturday when they host Barstow College in a key Foothill clash, the Vikings are currently one game ahead of the Eagles and in second place in the league. Tip-off Saturday is set for 3 pm.
